Next in a series of singles we’re releasing on Unlog, Canadian composer Vince Konigan’s two track project ‘The Long Run / Skyward’ branches out from the spaced-out cinematic universe he introduced in his EP ‘Border Ride’, bringing his sonic abstractions closer to our human timeline.
1. The Long Run
Inspired by a video from 1960 about Project Mercury, The Long Run has a rhythmic tension that relates to the Cold War, contrasted with its grandiose melody reflecting the crossing of new frontiers in space exploration.
Skyward reflects feelings of nostalgia mixed with hope of the present day, where it sometimes feels like society has lost its way. The song also expresses the sensation that the social tensions we currently experience have been here for over 50 years, and if anything are even more part of our reality.
